The sports memorabilia market has struck gold again with a massive multi-million dollar basketball transaction.
A unique 2007–08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autograph card featuring Kobe Bryant and LeBron James changed hands for $6,501,840. Finalized on Thursday, the transaction stands as the second-highest public price paid for a card from either NBA icon. It is also the most expensive item ever sold on the Alt marketplace.
For nearly two decades, the item sat raw and ungraded inside a private collection. Its recent emergence prompted an official grading by PSA, which awarded the cardboard an 8 and gave the on-card signatures a perfect 10. What sets this piece apart are the game-worn jersey patches cut directly from the NBA logo, paired with clean autographs.
This premium release comes from an era of Upper Deck products that collectors view as the absolute peak of basketball cards. While the price tag fell short of the $12.93 million record held by a Michael Jordan and Bryant pairing from the exact same set, it easily secures a spot among the ten highest public sales ever recorded. It also marks the 30th time a piece of LeBron cardboard has crossed the million-dollar threshold.
The latest sale driving the hobby market forward joins a list where vintage baseball still commands the top dollar. The legendary 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle remains the crown jewel after fetching $12.6 million. In modern basketball, a Stephen Curry rookie card previously pushed boundaries with a $5.9 million valuation.
