Phoenix Suns small forward Dillon Brooks faces official driving under the influence charges.

Prosecutors in Scottsdale, Arizona, filed the criminal complaint following a traffic stop earlier this year. Court records show the 30-year-old Canadian will be arraigned for the Class 1 misdemeanor on October 28.

Police reportedly pulled Brooks over around 1:00 a.m. on March 6. Officers arrested him at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. Authorities noted that he cooperated with law enforcement before his release at 3:30 a.m. ESPN had reported that the incident involved marijuana.

The case adds to current legal troubles in the state. The Ontario native is dealing with separate misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and speeding from an incident in January. Officers allegedly clocked him going 85 mph in a 45 mph zone. A trial readiness conference for that case is set for November 9.

Suns senior vice president of communications Stacey Mitch stated the team has addressed the matter with Brooks and declined further comment.

Brooks is entering his 10th NBA season after recently signing a three-year, $73 million extension through 2030. In his first year with the Suns, he tallied 20.6 points per game in 60 appearances. Meanwhile, the league typically waits for legal proceedings to finish before deciding on player discipline.

With training camp underway, the Suns will play five preseason games over the next two weeks. They open the 2026–27 Regular Season against the Portland Trail Blazers in Moda Center on October 21.
