The Denver Nuggets opened their training camp ahead of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season. With fresh faces joining the established core, the roster spent the initial sessions flushing out the offseason rust and establishing a physical identity. The main objective has been cleaning up the mistakes and getting into true game shape.
“The starting unit is the same, but there’s a bunch of new guys,” said Serbian franchise star Nikola Jokic after practice on Tuesday. “I think they’re going to be good.”
When asked how the primary line-up looked operating together, the Joker smiled. “It feels like normal, feels like second nature. It feels like you know what we should be doing,” he noted simply.
Initial workouts always bring chaotic pacing. Players are overly excited. However, the veterans pushed for immediate accountability on the defensive end.
It has been a grind. New additions like DeMar DeRozan had to adapt quickly to the altitude. Head coach David Adelman viewed the environment as a massive conditioning tool, forcing players to build endurance faster than rivals training at sea level. Meanwhile, the Sombor native and the rest of the leadership group are keeping a close eye on the younger newcomers.
Using CU Boulder’s on-campus training facilities, the Nuggets will open their preseason schedule against the Utah Jazz at the CU Events Center this Sunday. Following their four remaining preseason games, they will tip off the Regular Season against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center on October 22.
