Furkan Korkmaz finished the latest scrimmage game of the Philadelphia 76ers with 18 points and while numbers alone might not say much, his shooting efficiency thrilled even one of his veteran teammates: J.J. Redick

“Holy sh–t. He just came out of nowhere and surprised us,” Redick commented on Korkmaz’s display as reported by NJ.com.

According to NJ, the Turkish wing attacked mainly from the perimeter, excelling as a spot shooter. This, after all, is the space-creating role that he’s expected to assume in coach Brett Brown’s systems.

“He really shot the ball well, and I thought he played well. We’re all going to walk out of here thinking he made shots, and that’s true, but I thought defensively he did some good things,” Brown said.

Korkmaz, 20, was the Sixers 26th pick int he 2016 NBA Draft. He was stashed for one more year in Europe, spending his time initially with Anadolu Efes and then with Banvit on loan and penned a deal with Philadelphia on early July.
