The Portland Trail Blazers announced that they have sent Jusuf Nurkic his qualifying offer of $4.75M for 2018-2019, to make him a restricted free agent.

The Blazers can now match any offer that Nurkic might receive during the free agency in order to keep him with the team. According to NBC, Nurkic is a priority for Portland, given the young of his age and ample room for improvement. The Blazers are potentially willing to retain the 24-year-old Bosnian center long term.

In 2017-2018, Nurkic – who instantly became a sensation after arriving in Portland via a trade with the Denver Nuggets – notched 14.3 points, 9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for 19.28 PER, averaging 24.6 minutes over 83 games.
