Eugene Jeter, Bobby Brown and Rico Hines start an LA Basketball Clinic

Former Sacramento Kings guard Eugene “Pooh” Jeter partnered up with former Olympiacos (and NBA) player Bobby Brown and the Stockton Kings’ assistant coach Rico Hines to start a Los Angeles Basketball Skills Clinic.

He found the inspiration and motivation after a close encounter with the kids at other camps, making him realize there is a lot he could do to help:

“We’re the professional basketball players, but these kids aren’t getting information from us. College and high school kids, they look up to us and have questions about pick and rolls and running offenses, big men about the post. When I went to Paul Pierce’s AAU practice, afterwards I was talking to them and I was like: ‘Wow, there are a lot of things they don’t know’. One kid said: ‘We are trying to be where y’all at, but we can’t find y’all.'”, Jeter told Marc Spears of ESPN.

The clinic will be invitation-only and include 60 top high school boys, around ten top high school girls and local college players. They will receive basketball tips and advice from professional players with ties to Los Angeles.

A lot of current and former NBA stars will join the cause including Russell Westbrook, DeMar DeRozan and Paul George. James Harden is also a possibility.

There are also Chris Paul, Zach Randolph, Holiday brothers (Jrue, Justin and Aaron), Tyson Chandler, Brandon Jennings, Delon Wright, Allen Crabbe, Jordan Bell, Solomon Hill, Spencer Dinwiddie, Tony Snell, Dewayne Dedmon and Chimezie Metu.

As for the former NBA players who are expected to attend, the list includes Paul Pierce, Baron Davis, Gilbert Arenas, Byron Scott, Andre Miller, Richard Jefferson, Ryan Hollins, Derrick Williams, Elden Campbell, Chris Mills, Milt Palacio and John Williams.
