The Golden State Warriors will make a move to offer Klay Thompson a maximum contract deal once the free agency kicks off, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

As Woj reports, the Warriors intend to tender a five-year, 190-million offer sheet to Thompson in order to quickly finalize a deal with the player’s agent Greg Lawrence. Other teams looking to potentially acquire Thompson felt that the player will eventually re-sign with Golden State.

Thompson, a three-time NBA champion with the Warriors, averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 2019-2020 before suffering an ACL tear injury on his left knee during Game 6 of the Finals vs. the Toronto Raptors.
