Nicolas Batum out for several weeks

The Charlotte Hornets announced that Nicolas Batum will miss at least two to three weeks with an avulsion fracture on the third finger of his left hand. The 30-year-old French swingman underwent an MRI after picking up the injury in the 2019-20 NBA regular season opener.

Batum only lasted 11 minutes on Wednesday recording four rebounds and two assists, was injured late in the third quarter. He will be reevaluated in two to three weeks.

The 2019-20 season marks the last guaranteed year of the five-year, $120 million dollars contract he signed with the Hornets in 2016. He holds a player option for the 2020-21 season.

Last year, the well-experienced NBA player averaged 9.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
