Recovering from cardiac arrest with the support of family and friends, Bronny James played his first game with USC on Sunday.

James, 19, came off the bench to record four points behind 1/3 three-pointers and 1/2 free throws, three rebounds, two steals, two rebounds, and one block over 17 minutes. Long Beach State spoiled his debut with an overtime win, 84-79, in Los Angeles.

The NCAA freshman, son of four-time NBA champion LeBron James, showed glimpses of athleticism beyond his age and somewhat close to his father, including a crazy chase-down block.

“I just want to say I am thankful for everything,” he said after the game resurfacing a loosened approach and instead focusing on getting his career back on track, “I just want to thank everyone who helped me through this.”

LeBron James is expected to wait for Bronny to potentially make it to the NBA, hoping to play alongside him. His son is eligible to declare for the 2024 NBA draft.

“Can’t even tell you all how emotional today was for me! I am drained and all I can say is Bronny you are simply incredible! Damn the wins and losses that will occur,” he shared after making his way to Galen Center and enjoying his son’s debut in the NCAA alongside a sellout crowd, “You have already won the ultimate goal/championship and that is life!”

Preparing for the 2023-24 campaign with the Trojans, Bronny James suffered cardiac arrest in July.
