One of Europe’s top young prospects, Nikola Kusturica, is reportedly on the verge of leaving FC Barcelona to pursue a college career in the NCAA.

According to Sport.es, the Serbian guard is expected to inform the club of his decision after completing the ongoing FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey.

Barcelona had hoped to keep Kusturica for another season and planned to give him a significant role under the team’s new coaching staff, but growing interest from American colleges appears to have changed those plans.

The report adds that powerhouse programs such as Kentucky and North Carolina have already shown strong interest in the 17-year-old, who is already being projected by some scouts as a potential top-three pick in the 2028 NBA Draft.

Kusturica has been one of Serbia’s standout performers at the U17 World Cup, averaging 18 points, two blocks and two steals through the opening two games, further strengthening his reputation as one of the tournament’s brightest talents.
