Among several penalties announced following the incidents involving DeMarcus Cousins in Puerto Rico, the former NBA player was suspended for the rest of the 2025 edition of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional.

Cousins, 34, went into a heated argument with fans following insulting gestures and was also on the receiving end of various items, including fans near the tunnel throwing drinks at him.

Due to his actions on Monday evening, during the meeting of the Guaynabo Mets and Bayamon Vaqueros in Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, he was fined 4,250 dollars and faces more fines up to 5,750 dollars, in addition to being suspended for the remainder of the season, as announced on Tuesday.

Therefore, his second stint with the Mets ended with 18.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per contest over ten appearances. The first spell with the club was in the 2023 season of the BSN. Further recent overseas experience extended to Taiwan and Mongolia.

The former Kentucky standout was the fifth pick of the 2010 NBA draft. Until 2022, he logged 674 games played in the league based in North America, while placing in the annual All-Star Game for four straight years between 2015 and 2018, and being named in the All-NBA Second Team in 2015 and 2016.

Beyond Cousins, the league also ordered the aforementioned fans to be identified and then prohibited from attending home games of Vaqueros for the rest of the season. The team is also facing a 7,500-dollar fine. More similar incidents would extend sanctions to playing home games behind closed doors or in another location.
