Galatasaray triumphs over Fenerbahce in Istanbul derby

Galatasaray held Fenerbahce Beko to just five points in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter to reach a triumphant 83 – 64 win in the Turkish BSL League game between the two Istanbul archrivals.

It was the first defeat of the season for Fener in Turkey after five league rounds. Meanwhile, Galatasaray improved to 4-1.

Greg Whittington scored a game-high 20 points on 8/12 shots, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists to lead Galatasaray to victory. Aaron Harrison contributed 14 points and eight assists while Tal Webster dropped 17 points, including the triple that gave the winning side a 69 – 57 lead with 6:17 remaining. It was the first double-digit advantage in the match for the “Cimbom” that held a firm grasp to it for the remainder of the game.

Nando De Colo (16 points, seven rebounds, four assists), Derrick Williams (14 points on 4/12 shooting, five rebounds), Kostas Sloukas (12 points, six assists) and Melih Mahmutoglu (10 points) finished in double figures for Fener but none of their teammates had more than four.
