How PAO fans say PAO has good front line is baffling. Fotsis, Skordilis, Batiste, Shang are mediocre and Diamantakos is too young to offer anything. You CANNOT win Euroleague with just Gist, Lasme and Mavrokefalidis as front court players that can still produce. I am positive Panathinaikos has zero chance of winning Euroleague with such an atrocious front line and being dependent and reliant on Diamantidis that will be 34 years old at the time and is already in a steady decline over the last two years. From a Bilbao fan...I can say honestly the Panathinaikos fans are in total denial. Batiste can barely even move anymore and should have retired about 2 years ago. Fotsis is also a former player. He was nothing short of terrible the last 2 years. He's basically lost all of his athletic ability and he's as slow as you can imagine. Panathinaikos was shouldn't sign them and it WILL cost them.

Will you have a team at all next year? :p

My friend last year we would have made it to the final four if it wasn't for the referees. We swepped Olympiakos EASILY for the Greek play offs. We beat them at the cup final as well! And all that with a brand new team and only with Lasme and Gist. This year we haven't lost any players besides Sofo, and we added Fotsis, Mavrokefalides, Batiste, Pappas and Jankovic. I don't count the Chinese guy. So what makes you think that we don't have chances for the euro league? Keep in mind that your are referring to the best team in Europe for the last 15 years with six European championships!

I am watching the games every year and I think that sometimes if Barca gets help from refs, then I see these crazy games in Greece and just laugh and think well it can be a million times more worse. You did not beat Olympiacos, the refs beat them. So please do not use that as some sort of barometer to measure the level of your team.

These comments are just hilarious. I agree 100% on Olympiakos. They have best guards and best PF/C in Euroleague. And they have 10 times better PF/C than Panathinaikos does, and some people here are saying PAO has better ones? It's like being in an alternate universe. PAO fans are truly something astonishing. And no, I am NOT an Olympiakos fan. lol at washed up has beens like Batiste and Fotsis, Skordilis, Shang, and Mavrokefalidis as being a champion front line. PAO fans still the most delusional by far in all of Europe. Your team won't win a single one of the 3 available trophies this year.

I think you are forgetting stefan lasme and James gist. Best defenders in last year's euro league. Also I suppose you didn't watch the Greek final playoffs. Olympiakos front line where tramped! 3 - 0 swipe

"And no, I am NOT an Olympiakos fan."... at least show some decency and admit you are supporting Olympiakos

Panathinaikos fans are trolling as they always do at every site. Their front line is absolutely horrible. They only have 3 good players at 4 and 5 positions (Gist/Lasme/Mavrokefalidis). Every other player at the 4 and 5 positions is absolutely terrible. Fotsis and Batiste are ex players. Neither one of them is worth anything now. I'm a fan of Bayern - just to clarify, because the Panathinaikos fans will accuse me of being "Olympiacos".
    • Dint Wednesday - 07 / 08 / 2013 Reply
Agree totally on the guards.. But PF/C ??? Think that, except Pri, the rest of Olympiakos front-line players may not even sit on the Bench of Panathinaikos this Season...

The king of the transfers is Velickovic from Brose Basket, if the serbian is ok from his injures, will be a star in Euroleague

I think the league this year will be very competitive. Besides the Spanish and the Greek teams which are traditionally strong every year, there is now a third contender: the turkish teams. All of them are improving there roster dramatically. Anyway, the final judge would be the court but as I see it, my team panathinaikos has made great moves. And now with batiste returning also is going to have the strongest front line for sure

On paper, individually, it seems Barca did the best. But, I think Fener with Obradovic is the best move

Barcelona Panathinaikos CSKA Thats the order on both the transfer market this summer but on the strength and quality of rosters as well. Big faves for F4 ,defo they ll be there

Applying that to the whole league may be confusing. Comparing Panathinaikos with Olympiakos. Big guys: Panathinaikos for sure. They got Fotsis and Mavrokefalidis (The 0 defense guy) but they have Gist and Lasme to cover that and of course they got rid of the baby Shaq. These players know the game far better than Dunston(When Playing for Aris the whole Nick Galis hall was laughing), Simmons (Had injuries) and Petway (Never played in a High level). In the Forwards: Panathinaikos again. They signed Jankovic, at least 5 times better than Lojeski. Concluding with the guards: Olympiakos. Re-signed VSpan plus Law IV and waiting Mantzaris back while the greens got Pappas (Another 0 defense guy but gunner) and Curry (Shown smth for 3-4 games last year).
  13. Rick Tuesday - 06 / 08 / 2013 Reply
Olympiacos did best for me. It's funny reading from everyone about Barca and CSKA front line when Olympiacos has the deepest, most athletic, and best defensive front line in Europe. Between Simmons, Dunston, Begic, Printezis, Mavroeidis, and Petway Olympiacos front line is nasty in terms of physicality and defense. No team is going to be able to score in the paint all season long. Then they have for sure best guards rotation of Spanoulis, Law, Manztaris, Katsivelis, and Sloukas. They have proven over last 2 years they are best guards rotation in Europe. Finally, they needed some dynamic killer outside shooter and they got one of the best ones of all Europe in Lojeski who is criminally underrated player. He is athletic, good defender, and he has a great floor game also. He is an all around player like Perperoglou, and not just dunks and open 3 pointers like Papanikolaou. Olympiacos is going to be devastating this year, they have a much more complete team than they did last year and they have players that fit totally now to Bartzokas coaching philosophy which is defense in paint, and lots of running and quick motion offense.

It seems that you are in a blurred state of mind that affects the way you are thinking and doesn't allow you to face the reality. Believe it or the team you are referring to,has already lost three key factors of the last two winning Euroleagues and the replacements of them haven't even participated once on a single Euroleague game.In addition, all of the newcomers were used to play in low reputation teams and leagues till now. To conclude, there is no point to be so optimistic about Olumpiakos this season, since he seems to has lost his dynamic winning spirit athletes such as Hines,Papanikolaou and Antic. In the contrary huge favorites for winning the competition this year are CSKA,Barcelona and Panathinaikos always judging from their current roster

barca and csska made great moves INDIVIDUALLY but to earn the euroleague title you need something more...you need to create a TEAM...budjets don't earn titles...olympiakos is the proof....back to back euroleague champions with the smallest budjet in the F4...while csska had in their roster kristic, kirilenko, teodosic etc!to conclude the hierarchy of summer champions is Barca,Csska,Fener,Olympiakos,Panathinaikos,Real,Efes,Galata....
  15. Rıza gürses Monday - 05 / 08 / 2013 Reply
fenerbahce ulker if you include coach as well. On paper, strongest teams are now barca, fener and cska but team chemistry will be key. With a less budget, olympiacos became champion 2 times succedingly.for succes, transfering elite players are not enough. Team chemistry, coaching, an intimate atmosphere between players and chance of course will be decisive for Euroleague Championship. This year watch out GALATASARAY. They could be much more dangerous than many suppose.

I Believe that Barcelona is Euroleague transfer king....Dorsey and Lampe will make a very strong frontline...Also Nachbar and Papanikolaou are very good forwards...Panathinaikos made very good moves too...The greens added two young talents that can help the team(Pappas,Jankovic),the captain of the Greek national team Antonis ''Batman''Fotsis and Loukas Mavrokefalidis... All of them are greeks...

I think Barcelona Regal should consider the "transfer king", because they took very good players, everybody with experience in Euroleague. On the other hand I hope that the choices of Olympiakos will prove right and smart. Panathinaikos, CSKA and Real Madrid have done good choices also, without so much risk, but with more money.

dude check out barcelona's roster. they signed dorsey, nachbar, papanikolau and lampe. they have one of the top squads in europe by far along with cska.
      • erdem Monday - 05 / 08 / 2013 Reply
It is certain that Kleiza and Bogdanovic is much better than Nachbar and Pap. Fener choice Zoric not Lampe. It's the choice of Obro and I think Zoric is better in paint. Dorsey is a sized pivot with rebounding skills and there is no alternate of him in Fener. Bjelica is one of the best number 4s in EL. Fener should find a good scorer guard. That's the missing part of the team.

These teams did by far and away the best with their moves: Olympiacos Galatasaray Real Madrid probably next, because they just slightly tinkered with their team that was already close, by adding two great centers. Barca? Players being used out of position, still too reliant on injury riddled Navarro, guys that don't defend, no real backup for Lorbek coming off knee surgery...........UH NO. CSKA? Team totally looks like it will not match together at all. Pargo, Weems, Jackson, Teodosic....I don't see any way this perimeter fits. Panathinaikos? They did a disaster summer moves in the front line with Fotsis, who has been an ex player for 2 years now, Mavrokefalidis, who is very skilled, but also very soft, as their main big man signing, keeping Skordilis, who offers nothing but fouls, and then come on...Shang Ping? They are super weak in front court. Fener? They have way too many ball hogs to do well. McCalebb, Preldzic, Kleiza, Nemanja Bjelica? These might just be individually the 4 biggest ball hogs in the entire Euroleague, and Obradovic managed to put them all together in one team. Those guys are also allergic to playing defense.

There is a big difference between the best team and the best transfers. For example Real Madrid signed only Bourousis and Mejri but is ultra-strong now. Csska signed Pargo-Hines-Fridzon but has extra-strengthened its roster. I think Barca has made very big moves this summer and we are waiting for the extra addition on the backcourt to see the whole roster.
  26. giwrgos7 Monday - 05 / 08 / 2013 Reply
In total i believe Barcelona made the best moves in the transfer market !They have the best front line in europe with nachbar and lorbek in th PF position and tomic lampe and dorsey in the center spot, the only missing piece is one good guard since noone can be sure about navvaro 's condition ! on the other hand csska has very good players and a full roster ,but i believe they lack of good chemistry , since i think teodocic pargo and weems can't cooperate in the starting 5 ! In greece now panathinaikos maintained the same roster and improved with some good players ,but they stil need a player in the center position ,olympiacos on the other hand retained the same tactic with a low budget ,keepping 2 key players (spanoulis and law ) an stregthening his front line danston begic simmons )and we will see if this tactic has results for a third year in a row !
  27. Özcan Yüksel Monday - 05 / 08 / 2013 Reply
IMO CSKA and Barca made critical moves. They gained two important pieces of 2 times defending champion OLY. K-Pap and Hines are not star players already but they were very important at OLY's system. That's why these moves are very critical to weaken OLY's squad. CSKA has a completed team now. Their balance in both inner and outer game are good. Their biggest problem should be ego of the players. Teo-Pargo-Weems-Khryapa-Krstic is the best starting 5 in all over EL on paper now. Barca already made good moves getting Lampe and Dorsey and 2 good forwards Nachbar and K-Pap but they still they have a missing piece in guard rotation. Still they have to count on Navarro's game or injury. It's a big problem. Fener made good moves but for a F4 candidate team they have more missing pieces. The possible guard transfer is still a question mark. They have to find a good PG who can shoot 3s, play PNR and a good defence leader. Also team don't have any block threat. And for the last quality of native players are not good for squad depth. CSKA made good moves as already Barca and PAO in the 2nd place imo.

Not because I'm fan of them, but Panathinaikos has done a great job of rebuilding their team. Last year with the last eight and almost in the F4 of the Euroleague, Greek champion and cupwinners and they've mproved their roster dramatically. Adding Fotsis, Pappas, Jankovic and Mavrokefalidis is huge! CSKA and Barcelona look great too, but the overall improvement IMHO is better done by Panathinaiakos.

We have one of the best pf/c rotation in Euroleague with Furkan, macvan, erceg & jawaii. also we are still keeping our general carlos arroyo. i dont even talk about other guys like cenk, gordon, sinan etc. Yes we didint play in el last year but we won Turkish League. I believe we have a chance to win EL as well.

Yes, every team has a certain chance to win EL. Your team's chance is 1%. You are in EL this year. Just enjoy it but not dream too much. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. The competition is among the teams having A license. You are just there to spice it up...
