An ambitious new era begins for Aris Betsson with the two-year signing of power forward E.J. Liddell. Following an earlier report by Eurohoops, the official press release on Wednesday confirmed the 25-year-old’s arrival to bolster the club’s BKT EuroCup campaign.
Head coach Vassilis Spanoulis spearheads this major roster overhaul, backed by an increased budget, with the aim of championship contention and promotion to the EuroLeague.
Per the press release: “ARIS Betsson BC announces the signing of E.J. Liddell for the next two years.
E.J. Liddell was born on December 18, 2000, stands at 1.98m, and plays as a power forward.
ARIS Betsson’s new player attended Belleville High School-West. In 2019, he began his college career at the renowned Ohio State, where he delivered outstanding seasons. In his second year, he averaged 16.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists, while in his third year he recorded 19.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game, performances that earned him a place in the First Team All-Big Ten.
His impressive college years led him to declare early for the 2022 NBA Draft. He was selected with the 41st overall pick by the New Orleans Pelicans. However, during Summer League, he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and missed his rookie season.
In 2023, he signed a multi-year contract with the Pelicans, and one year later he was included in the package of players traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Dejounte Murray. In September 2024, he signed with the Chicago Bulls, and one year later with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds, producing excellent performances toward the end of the season.”
