Vatutin: It’s hard to imagine Russian teams continuing the Euroleague season

CSKA Moscow president Andrey Vatutin is pessimistic when it comes to the situation of Russian clubs in the Euroleague this season.

“The Euroleague has set a deadline for the decision, March 21, but I know the answer that we will receive. I think everyone knows it. I will be happy to be wrong and promise to drink champagne if the decision surprises me. But from what is happening, at the time of the decision and at the moment there are no big changes,” Vatutin told TASS and added.

“And it’s hard to imagine that Russian teams will have the opportunity to continue the Euroleague season. Not only because of politics, but there are also logistical problems.”

On February 28, the Euroleague leadership suspended the games of Russian clubs and set the deadline by which it will be decided if the three teams can return to the competition.
