With one game left in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season schedule for AX Armani Exchange Milan, the Italian club confirmed four new COVID-19 cases coming out of the latest tests. One positive case was previously detected yesterday, Tuesday.

Per the press release: “Following further tests administered today, four new cases of positive Covid-19 have emerged within the Olimpia Milano’s Team Group. The subjects were promptly isolated.”

The team guided by experienced tactician Ettore Messina is scheduled to meet LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne at Astroballe tomorrow, Thursday (21:00 CET). Depending on the result of the EuroLeague Regular Season Round 34 fixture and Real Madrid’s home game versus Bayern Munich Friday, the team based in Milan will head into the playoffs as the third or fourth seed.

Barring last-minute adjustments, the Quarterfinals best-of-five series schedule is set to start on April 19. The four advancing sides will move on to the Final Four, set to be hosted by Belgrade’s Stark Arena between 19 and 21 May.

Besides the latest COVID-19 crisis disrupting the Italian club, Konstantinos Mitoglou tested positive during an anti-doping control following the Regular Season Round 28 visit to Panathinaikos OPAP on March 4. Luigi Datome sidelined for at least three weeks after undergoing surgery on his left knee adds to the issues to be dealt with against ASVEL and in the Playoffs of Europe’s premier club continental competition.

At the domestic level, Olimpia Milano ranks second in the Italian League table behind defending champion Virtus Segafredo Bologna. The 19-4 W-L record so far in the LBA Serie A Regular Season is narrowly shy of the leading side’s 20-3 tally.
