“Gigi Datome underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee for the removal of a bone fragment, following a trauma reported during the first quarter of the Sassari game. The player will be re-evaluated in three weeks,” Olimpia Milano‘s statement read.
Datome got injured in the game against Sassari after spending just two minutes on the court. Milano lost the game in a close finish 92-90.
The 34-year-old Italian forward played 44 games this season across all competitions. In 24 Euroleague games, he averaged 6.7 points (on 40% three-point shooting) and 1.5 rebounds.
Earlier, the club also announced a COVID-19 case among the team members without naming the person.
