Euroleague Fantasy: We’re getting Isaiah Canaan and we’re late

By Dimitris Minaretzis/ info@eurohoops.net

We’re sure that many of you Euroleague Fantasy enthusiasts have “picked up” Isaiah Canaan, as the Olympiacos shooting guard is on an exceptional streak of great performances.

Generally, we don’t tend to choose players with one-sided contributions in Fantasy, especially shooting guards who usually only score and don’t contribute much in rebounds, assists, steals, etc. However, we can’t turn a blind eye to what Isaiah is doing.

A few weeks ago, his price was highly tempting (below 6-7 units), and now it has reached nine, but even then, he’s cheap for what he brings to the table.

So, here’s the deal:

  • In the first five games of the season, he had only one with a PIR of 11, and all others were eight and below. He even scored -3 in the match against Olimpia Milano.
  • In the last six games for Olympiacos, his average PIR is 17.3 points!!!

More specifically, Canaan had only one game with a single-digit PIR (7), and all the rest ranged from 16 to 25 points!

Truly, as a shooting guard, Canaan doesn’t do much in Fantasy other than scoring points.

However, we’re going to pick him now, despite Olympiacos facing a tough match against Real Madrid, because he shoots with incredible accuracy, makes few mistakes, and scores relentlessly, boosting his PIR.

Even if he doesn’t reach the incredible numbers of the last six games this Tuesday in Piraeus, his relatively low current price and his good form convince us to choose him and keep him for the time being.
