Olympiacos shut down the Thomas Walkup rumors on Tuesday, confirming they immediately rejected a $600K offer from Dubai and consider the matter entirely closed.
This decisive stance from the Greek powerhouse comes in response to an approach made just days ago, where the fellow EuroLeague outfit formally expressed interest by offering payment across two installments. However, the Piraeus club and reigning European champions firmly dismissed the proposal.
Eurohoops had revealed the Dubai interest, noting that the Reds were navigating complex contract negotiations with their 33-year-old star guard. Under an extension signed in 2023, the naturalized Greek international is slated to earn $1.1 million for the final year of his contract, which runs through 2027 and contains no buyout clause.
This official denial signals that the club is exercising its total contractual control over the playmaker’s immediate future. This firm resolution of this situation provides crucial breathing room for the front office.
