Newly appointed FC Barcelona head coach Aleksander Sekulic expressed immense confidence in his heavily overhauled squad while highlighting the necessity of patience to integrate nine offseason arrivals during his introductory press conference on Wednesday.
Though content with the current group, particularly regarding their interior presence, the Slovenian strategist left the door open for future acquisitions, noting that the Catalan powerhouse remains active in the market to maximize its competitive edge.
“The team will need more time than usual for obvious reasons, but I think we have talent and we need to work on it to make them play the way we want,” noted the 48-year-old tactician at his presentation.
With Augustin Ubal, Josh Nebo, Justin Robinson, Olek Balcerowski, Olivier Nkamhoua, Stanley Umude, Tosan Evbuomwan, Tyrese Martin, and Umoja Gibson comprising the summer recruitment drive, they link up with returning players Dario Brizuela, Joel Parra, Juan Nunez, and Tornike Shengelia on the updated depth chart.

“We’re happy with what we have, with a few centers, although it’s clear that a team like Barca is always looking for ways to improve and be more competitive,” stated Sekulic, who penned a two-year contract to take over the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa outfit.
“As always, we are exploring the market and will see if we can find a solution that fits the team,” he added, citing the need for potential reinforcements, including at the power forward position if Shengelia eventually leaves the team. “If it makes sense, we will do it, but right now I think we have a competitive roster.”
