Olympiacos is set to reinforce their domestic core ahead of the upcoming 2026–27 season by reaching an agreement to acquire Nikos Plotas.
The 22-year-old guard, who previously excelled with Promitheas, is effectively a member of the Reds with only the official confirmation pending.
Olympiacos management successfully negotiated terms with both the player’s representatives and the leadership at his former club. The formal announcement is expected to follow shortly, providing head coach Giorgos Bartzokas with a highly touted Greek talent.
Plotas arrives in Piraeus carrying strong credentials, having been voted the Best Young Player in Greece’s Stoiximan GBL last season. During that breakout campaign, the young playmaker made 23 appearances for the Patras-based outfit, averaging 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.9 steals over 18 minutes of action per contest.
Beyond his domestic league experience, he has accumulated valuable continental exposure, featuring in six 7DAYS EuroCup contests and 11 Basketball Champions League fixtures. He is also a decorated junior international, representing Greece at the FIBA U18 European Championship in 2022 and securing back-to-back bronze medals with the Under-20 national team at the EuroBasket tournaments in Heraklion in 2023 and Gdynia in 2024.
Ahead of the formal transition to the reigning EuroLeague champions, the Promitheas youth product took to Instagram early Thursday morning to post an emotional farewell message to his longtime team and its supporters.
Earlier in the offseason, Olympiacos signed Codi Miller-McIntyre, Jean Montero, and Mbaye Ndiaye to join their returning core for the 2026–27 season.
