Besiktas is moving fast to fix its roster after a tough 1–2 start in the 2026–27 EuroLeague Regular Season. They have also dropped their opening game in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season.

Injuries broke their frontcourt plans early. Center Mady Sissoko went down in the preseason, leading the club to freeze his contract. Then, DaQuan Jeffries broke his hand in the season opener, further limiting options.

In an interview with Orta Cizgi on Sunday, Besiktas branch manager Ozkan Arseven addressed these gaps. He confirmed the club wants two new signings within the next week to ten days. “We had a good roster at the start of the season,” mentioned the experienced executive about the initial squad.

The front office wants impactful players who can help coach Dusan Alimpijevic immediately. They are not looking for simple bench warmers. “Transfers will happen,” stressed Arseven. “The players we bring here need to be above the level of our current squad structure, someone who will add value to the team and have a direct impact.”

He also updated the status of 25-year-old Sissoko, noting that if the Malian big receives medical clearance, Besiktas will unfreeze his contract and welcome him back. If Sissoko does not receive clearance, the club will sign a temporary replacement while he continues to heal. “If we receive good news about him, he will return to the team,” he said.

The next EuroLeague game is against Kosner Baskonia in Fernando Buesa Arena on Friday.
