Baskonia announced the hiring of Pedro Martinez as new head coach of the club till June 2019. Martinez will replace Pablo Prigioni.
The 56-years-old arrives from Valencia Basket, which with he won the Spanish League last season and also reached two more finals: the Spanish King’s Cup and the 7DAYS EuroCup. Martinez was also named Coach of the Year in the EuroCup.
Martinez already coached Baskonia during the 2005-06 season, so this will be his second stint on the Vitoria bench. With Martinez’s addition, Baskonia hopes to revert the disappointing results with which the team has started the season.
