Career night for Shved, road win for Khimki over Milano

Khimki Moscow traveled to Milan minus Stefan Markovic, lacked Thomas Robinson and found it really hard to initiate offense at the beginning of the match, falling behind 24 – 12 at the end of the first quarter.

“Have no fear, Alexey is here”, Shved said. The Russian combo guard scored 18 out of his career-high 29 points in the second half as Khimki clinched its 7th win of the season by defeating Milano 77 – 71.

“My teammates trust me and they gave me balls. I played my game and everyone else played great,” he said in the post-game flash interview.

Shved also added four assists, two steals for a career-high 35 PIR. His feats sank Milano to the 15th spot of the standings with a 3 – 8 record since Curtis Jerrells (17 points) and Jordan Theodore (14 points, 8 assists) weren’t enough to counter his action.

Most of their contribution came early in the match since Khimki fired up its engines after trailing 38 – 31 at the break. Andrey Zubkov stepped up with a season-high 15 points and Charles Jenkins added 10 plus some enormous defenses.

Even though Milano went colder and colder as the game progressed they could still win down the stretch. Yet with the score 65  -66 and three minutes remaining, a sequence of poor shot selection by the hosts plus Shved’s class on the other end, proved to be decisive.
