Panathinaikos has filed a protest over the result (a 86 – 83 home loss) to Olimpia Milano for Round 14 of the EuroLeague regular season.

The protest will be based on a clock malfunction that took place late in the fourth period. With the score 76 – 84 for the Italian team, the game clock went from 2.01 minutes remaining to 1.48 without any action taking place on the court.

Milano coach Simone Pianigiani was asked about Panathinaikos’ protest in the post-game presser and had the following reaction: “Honestly, I think that Panathinaikos is a top club. I don’t think that they will complain about something when we led for 40 minutes in their home. I think they know we played better tonight.”

According to Milan, the clock didn’t stop, because it has to be stopped only under the two minutes mark. So the referees stopped the game after the inbound pass and went to the instant replay to check. It was verified that the shot was made with 2.01 left, they informed the teams about it and the continued the game.
