As announced officially by the club, Dragan Sakota is the newest Reggio Emilia head coach.

He will debut on the Italian bench in the Basketball Champions League against his former team AEK. In Greece, he won the 2017-18 edition of the European competition.

Despite being able to beat Pinar Karsiyaka 74-70 in the last Basketball Champions League Round, Reggio Emilia previously decided to fire Massimiliano Menetti.

The Italian head coach joined the team in the summer after two runs that combined for 8 years guiding the red-and-white team in the LBA, also going close to a championship.

Reggio Emilia is currently on four games losing streak in the Italian league, joining Verona and Treviso on a 2-7 record, in the last position.

Yesterday, they suffered an 84-79 home loss against Trieste despite Andrea Cinciarini‘s double-double of 20 points and 16 assists.

However, in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League, it’s on a 2-2 record alongside Pinar Karsiyaka, ahead of AEK (1-3) and behind Bonn (3-1).

Max Menetti is fired for the second season in a row. In 2021-2022, despite bringing Treviso to the BCL Play-Ins, he was replaced midway through the season by Marcelo Nicola.
