Epic Harris, clutch Punter and qualification for AEK

Despite CEZ Nymburk’s road win with a ten-point lead against AEK (98-88), the Greek side didn’t give up until the last second in the second-leg game of the Basketball Champions League Round 16.

AEK made an amazing effort with four minutes left (12-3 run) to have a shot at advancing to quarterfinals. And they did it. Kevin Punter hit a contested three-pointer from afar with two seconds left to give AEK a 93-82 win and push them to the quarterfinals with a one-point lead in the aggregate score.

Despite Punter’s winning shot at the end, unbelievable Manny Harris was the hero of this game with 36 points.

It was a great game to watch as both teams played fast and effective. It was full of up and downs as both teams shared the lead. Nymburk had a great advantage at the end of the third period considering the aggregate difference (68-64, 14 points lead)  mostly thanks to the 21 offensive rebounds as they outjumped the opponent (AEK had only 5).

But in the end, it was not enough as they crumbled in last 10 minutes and AEK used it to their advantage.

Kendrick Ray’s 18 points effort felt sour as his team didn’t make it to the next round.
