FIBA calls Richard Howell to a hearing regarding the failed doping test

FIBA intends to suspend Richard Howell from the court for a year after failing the doping test he underwent during the Israeli League playoffs, according to Walla.

Howell admitted smoking marijuana during the Israeli League players’ strike but notes that he couldn’t know the sides would come to an agreement and the competition would continue. Despite that, FIBA sent a letter to Howell inviting him to a face-to-face hearing.

The player is surprised by this action considering previous situations of this nature as the players didn’t have to go through the same process.

For example, Sonny Weems faced no major trouble moving to Anadolu Efes in Turkey and registering for Turkish Airlines EuroLeague back in February. TaShawn Thomas, who also failed a doping test during the 2018 Israeli League playoffs hasn’t received any letters from FIBA so far.
