Hapoel Jerusalem and Israeli national team center Richard Howell failed a dopping test he underwent during the Winner League playoffs, per Walla.
Howell took the drug test after Game 1 of the quarterfinal series between Hapoel Jerusalem and Gilboa Galil. Howell had finished this match with 17 points (8/8 shots) plus five rebounds in 22 minutes while Hapoel lost the game to Gilboa Galil 85 – 78.
While Howell is expected to face a severe punishment which should prevent him from playing in Israel next season, the penalty might not apply if the player signs with another team in Europe or elsewhere, according to Walla.
