Giannis Antetokounmpo had a monster night for the Milwaukee Bucks against the Phoenix Suns that would’ve been absolutely perfect if not for one late missed shot.

Antetokounmpo finished the game with a season-high 47 points which could be 49 if he didn’t misfire in a two-point jumper at the buzzer. The Suns prevailed 125 – 124, despite Giannis’ season scoring record, 10 rebounds and five assists.

“We got back to the game. Played hard, played good defense. The last play, Khris [Middleton] coming out of the screen from Brook [Lopez], going to the corner. He wasn’t open. The next look was me, I was open. Got to a spot, rose up. Didn’t go in but at the end of the day it’s a shot that I work on.”

Every defense is looking to block Giannis’ paths to the basket and that was what the Suns looked to do in the last possession. It’s another reason why the two-time reigning MVP focuses specifically on this kind of shot from that key.

“It’s a shot that I shoot every single time in that position because I saw Jae Crowder and I had Ayton on me, so I couldn’t get on the rim in two seconds because they were all in front of me,” Antetokounmpo said.”

“It didn’t go in but I feel good, I felt good about it,” Antetokounmpo added. “Obviously it kind of hurts because everybody wants to knock down that shot and steal the game. At the end of the day, you learn from it. I think the team did a great job just fighting, keep fighting in the end. Gave us a chance to win the game.”
