Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo will undergo thumb surgery, the team announced. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the player is expected to be out for a period of four to six weeks.

Adebayo was injured during the Heat loss to the Denver Nuggets Monday. He suffered a torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his right thumb and will be operated the following weekend. The team had a gap on the frontline lineup since forward Markieff Morris has been out since he injured his neck vs. the Nuggets, during the incident with Nikola Jokic.

Losing Adebayo for up to 20 games will cost the Heat their third-leading scorer behind Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry and their top rebounder. Bam was averaging 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds, being a prominent two-way weapon for Miami.
