LeBron James will miss the remainder of the season

LeBron James will sit out the last two games of the 2021-22 NBA Regular Season, the Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday.

Per the press release: “LeBron James’ left ankle was recently reevaluated by Lakers medical staff, and it was determined that due to the ankle sprain James suffered in a game on March 27th, he will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season to allow for continued healing and an expected full recovery.”

James, 37, has been stuck on the injury list for the last week. In his final appearance this season, he produced 38 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 40 minutes in a loss at home to the New Orleans Pelicans last Friday. His side went on to drop the next five games. Knocked out of contention for a berth in the Play-Ins was a direct result of the current eight-game losing streak.

He picked up the injury in an away fixture versus the Pelicans. The postseason lacking the Lakers and after being re-evaluated by the medical staff, he was ruled out of the last two games of the Regular Season. Wrapping up the disappointing 2021-22 campaign, a home game opposite the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday and a visit to the Denver Nuggets Sunday.

Making his way to 56 games of the 2021-22 season, James put up 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per contest. He will be missing the playoffs for the fourth time in his career and second in the last four years as a member of the Lakers.
