Gregg Popovich on retirement inquires: “That question is inappropriate”

The five-time NBA champion Gregg Popovich has been serving as the San Antonio Spurs head coach for 26 years and, at 73 years of age, his retirement is one of the key topics going into the offseason.

After making the playoffs for 22 consecutive seasons, the Spurs missed the postseason for three straight years with a losing record and their most recent run ended by losing to the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in.

Popovich was asked in the post-game press conference if he will return next season for another round but the coach didn’t think the question was proper.

“That question is inappropriate,” he said simply, shutting down any talk about his retirement at the moment.

Coach Pop became the all-time winningest head coach in NBA history this season and has logged 1,336 victories so far. He joined the Spurs back in 1996 as the head coach.
