Luka Doncic officially out for Game 1 vs the Jazz

It was expected but the official confirmation has left no doubt that Luka Doncic will miss out on the start of the playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks announced he will be out for Game 1 vs the Utah Jazz.

Doncic suffered a left calf strain in the last regular-season game of the Mavs, against the San Antonio Spurs, after awkwardly landing from a jump-pass.

According to various reports, there’s a lot of skepticism around Doncic’s injury and there is also a chance that he will miss the Game 2 as well. A lot will depend on the outcomes of the first two games and if the Mavs star will have to rush it back to the court.

It will certainly put more pressure on his return if the Mavs fall 0-2 to the Jazz. Dallas also won’t be able to count on Tim Hardaway Jr and Frank Ntilikina.

The Slovenian three-time All-Star concluded the 2021-22 regular season with an average of 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 35.4 minutes across 65 games.
