Rudy Gobert discards trade demand as rumor

Rudy Gobert is at “him or me” point with Donovan Mitchell and will demand that one of them be traded in the next few days, according to Sean O’Connell.

Per the report: Gobert feels that his own numbers are consistent or getting better, while Mithcell is a defensive liability and is falling off in terms of explosiveness.

The French big is also aware of at least one Western Conference title-contender that would be willing to pay handsomely for his abilities.

That said, Gobert went to social media and denied the report as a rumor. “Everyday has it’s own new ‘rumor’,” he wrote via Twitter.

Mitchell and Gobert have been rumored to have a strained relationship since the start of the coronavirus pandemic when Gobert became the first positive player and Mitchell followed.

The rumors garnered strength throughout the 2021-22 season due to Mitchell’s low number of passes to Gobert. The duo, however, denied the narrative and reaffirmed it recently after the game-winning alley-oop combo against Dallas.

Utah went on to lose the series 4-2 after much trouble defensively against the Mavericks who got out of the first round for the first time since Luka Doncic got into the league.
