Rudy Gobert has played alongside Evan Fournier representing France in major international competitions. Especially considering Fournier’s often explosions with Les Bleus, supporting his teammate in the complicated situation with the New York Knicks would be a safe bet.

Gobert, 31, shared his opinion after the Minnesota Timberwolves visited the Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

“He’s the best shooter on the team. He’s the best shooter on the Knicks,” he told the New York Post, “In terms of pure three-point shooting, I think he’s the best.”

“I think he can contribute and help a lot of teams. I think everybody knows it. But it’s kind of weird when you end up on the bench and you don’t really know why. Sometimes you can be stuck in a situation,” added the Wolves center, “I know he’s going to have an opportunity again, and everybody will understand that he can help and win. And do it at a high level. And do it every night.”

Fournier, 30, was limited to 27 appearances in the 2022-23 Regular Season. Determined to bounce back, he has indeed delivered solid showings in the 2023 NBA Preseason, including in the losing effort to the Timberwolves. “I think it’s better now,” commented the towering center.

“I told him I know it’s going to be hard sometimes but you got to control what you can control. Still find your happiness in the work you do every day and communicate with coach,” Gobert went on to reveal tips to his international teammate.
