The Dallas Mavericks suffered an overtime home loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday. The result itself wasn’t enough to overshadow Dirk Nowitzki’s latest accomplishment. Everybody expected it and he delivered moving up to sixth place of the NBA all-time scoring list.

The 40-year-old German finished with eight points. However, his mid-range shot in the beginning of the first period was enough for him to surpass Wilt Chamberlain. Only Michael Jordan (32.292), LeBron James (32.439), Kobe Bryant (33.643), Karl Malone (36.928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38.387) have poured more points.

“It was good to get it over with in the first two shots” he mentioned following the NBA 2018-19 Regular Season game commenting on his rise to sixth place of the all-time scoring list. He also repeated that he’ll decide on whether he will extend his career or retire after the conclusion of his 2018-19 campaign.
