Panathinaikos has officially announced the return of club legend Dimitris Diamantidis.
The former captain is back at the Greek powerhouse in an executive role, marking his reunion with head coach Željko Obradović for the first time in 14 years, matching the Serbian coach’s absence from the club before his return this summer.
Diamantidis previously served as Panathinaikos’ general manager between 2020 and 2022 and now rejoins the organization in a front-office capacity.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the club’s history, Diamantidis spent his entire Panathinaikos career from 2004 to 2016. During that span, he won three EuroLeague titles, earning Final Four MVP honors in 2007 and 2011, while also capturing nine Greek League championships and 10 Greek Cups.
Shortly before the official announcement, club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos welcomed him back with an Instagram story that read:
“Welcome home.“
