BCL Round of 16 Week 5 Recap: The Quarter-Finals stage is (almost) set

By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

Just like the previous four, Week 5 of the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League Round of 16 didn’t disappoint. After these two days of exciting action, we now know seven of the eight BCL Quarter-Finals participants.

In Group I, Hapoel Jerusalem and SIG Strasbourg have advanced to the next phase following the Israeli red-and-black team’s win against JDA Bourgogne Dijon, and they will now face each other for the home-court advantage. Hapoel Holon remains at the bottom with a record of 0-5.

In Group K, both Unicaja Malaga and AEK advanced to the Quarter-Finals after their respective wins against Limoges CSP and Galatasaray, in which Daron Russell still shone. Finally, in Group L, Lenovo Tenerife still got the home-court advantage despite losing against UCAM Murcia, which advanced to the Quarter-Finals. Darussafaka’s victory against Surne Bilbao is not enough for the Turkish team.

The only group in which things are still uncertain is Group J, where BAXI Manresa and Rytas Vilnius will face each other in Week 6 on March 22 at 18:30 CET to earn a Quarter-Finals spot. Telekom Baskets Bonn keeps on being undefeated, while Bahcesehir has been eliminated from the competition.

The Quarter-Finals draw, which sees as of now Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, SIG Strasbourg, Telekom Baskets Bonn, Unicaja Malaga, AEK, Lenovo Tenerife, and UCAM Murcia, will take place on March 24.
