Jalen Brunson emerges with 31 points, Mavs take 2-1 lead against Jazz

Jalen Brunson stepped up with 31 points while playing with a bruised back and the Dallas Mavericks grabbed a 126-118 win over the Utah Jazz on the road to take the lead of the series (2-1).

Despite missing star Luka Doncic, the Mavs got together and six more players finished the game in double figures. Spencer Dinwiddie added 20 points and six assists, Maxi Kleber had 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while coming from the bench and Davis Bertans posted 15 points, also from the bench.

Donovan Mitchell’s 32-point performance kept the Jazz competitive until the end, though Kleber and Dinwiddie made sure to keep the Mavs on the winning track. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 24 points for the hosts, Mike Conley had 21 and Rudy Gobert picked up 15 points. The series remains in Utah with Game 4 underway Sunday.

The Golden State Warriors are one victory away from sweeping the series against the Denver Nuggets, following their 118-113 victory in Denver Thursday to take a 3-0 lead. Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole took control for the Warriors scoring 27 points apiece and Klay Thompson followed with 26 points. The Nuggets delivered their best punch yet in the series, with Nikola Jokic posting a big double-double of 37 points and 18 rebounds. Jokic’s efforts weren’t enough to turn the tide and now the Warriors could sweep the series Sunday in Denver.

Desmond Bane posted 26 points and Brandon Clarke added 20 as the Memphis Grizzlies managed to top the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-95 on the road in Game 3 to lead the series 2-1. Star Ja Morant posted the sole triple-double of the night with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and the Grizzlies will seek to win one more game in Minnesota Monday before the series returns to Memphis. D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points to lead the way for the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards added 19 points and Jarred Vanderbilt tapped 10 points and 13 rebounds.
