Luka Doncic had triple-double showing against Victor Wembanyama

Nikola Jokic wasn’t the only superstar displaying supremacy during the NBA Night. Luka Doncic joined the party in the fourth encounter of the season against the San Antonio Spurs, giving once again nightmares to Gregg Popovich’s team.

Winning 113-107 on the road, the Slovenian phenomenon had the 8th triple-double in the last ten-game stretch but struggled shooting from the field, ending with a terrible 6/27. He still provided, however, 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 16 assists, dragging his team all-around.

He praised his team’s effort after the win on the road. “We have a great team. That’s why we got to win today. Everybody stepping on the court is playing hard, and in the end, we got a win, which we came here for”, the former EuroLeague MVP commented as reported by Grant Afseth.

On the losing side, Victor Wembanyama wasn’t able to make such a huge impact during the game, ending with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 3 assists but while also shooting 3/13 from the field, including a poor 0/4 from beyond the arc.

In the aftermath, Kyrie Irving praised the French rookie. “You got to be aware of him, like late challenging and his timing is so, so good. He has the timing of a guard. He does bait you a lot. He does things like a Defensive Player of the Year would”, he commented as reported by Grant Afseth.

There were some quite good European performances overall during this game. Jeremy Sochan also ended with a double-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in the defeat, with 5 points coming from both Maxi Kleber and Cedi Osman off the bench, respectively for Dallas and San Antonio.
