Barcelona announced that Spanish forward Victor Claver has underwent surgery on the external meniscus of his left knee today and that the approximate time of recovery will keep him sidelined for five months.

Thus Claver, 28, won’t be able to help the Spanish national team defend its title in the upcoming EuroBasket. This will be the first summer tournament the Barcelona player will miss since he was inducted to the senior national team in 2009. He was present in all four previous EuroBasket (2009, 2011, 2013 & 2015) editions, the 2010 and 2014 World Cup tournaments plus the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

Spain is competing in Group C together with Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Hungary and hosts Romania.
