Few hours after Aris and Dimitris Priftis announced that they part ways, Unics Kazan officially acquired the Greek head coach with 1+1 deal.

Priftis therefore becomes the second Greek coach in the history of Unics following Argiris Pedoulakis, who was at the helm briefly in 2014. He faced his new team twice in the 2015/2016 EuroCup with Aris, registering two victories.

This is going to be the first time in which Priftis, the 2016 “Coach of the Year” in the Greek League, will be coaching abroad.

Prior to signing Prifits, Unics Kazan had also been interested in Spanish coach Pedro Martinez, who was crowned Liga Endesa champion with Valencia.
