EuroLeague’s expansion to 18 teams possible for the 2018-19 season

Jordi Bertomeu met with the Greek press today and he confirmed that the EuroLeague expension may come in the next season with France getting one spot.

The expansion of the EuroLeague is not news, however according to the EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu: “The clubs will vote if we can have 18 teams for the 2018-19 season”.

If this happens, then it’s more than possible for France to get a EuroLeague spot and also for the Eurocup finalist to get the other. The idea of expansion to 20 clubs doesn’t seem possible so soon, however it’s obvious that with the interest about EuroLeague from clubs around Europe getting bigger, everything can be brought on the table in the not so far future.
