Thomas Robinson’ addition in Khimki is very recent, however the former Laker is expected to be one of the marquee names of the EuroLeague as Khimki is emerging as a dark horse in the race for the title.

After watching in person the VTB United League premier of his new team, Khimki Moscow, against Tsmoki Minsk, Robinson who recently arrived in Moscow talked about himself and the upcoming season.

“I liked the first game, it was exciting”, Robinson said. “I think the guys played a lot better in the second half. I’m really excited about being on the court, actually. I see everybody is very unselfish here that is a great thing. I love playing with willing to pass guys that makes my job easier. I’m trying to win and came here to win every day”.

Robinson was watching the game with his friend Tyler Honeycutt, with whom they played in Sacramento Kings. “Tyler told me everything about everybody, the players, how the games may be, how like to see the fans come out a little bit more. I didn’t see any practices yet but I watched the game, heard the coach talk, so I pretty much get what they are trying to do. All the ideas about winning so I’m trying to do and I’m pretty sure what coach wants to do”, he explained

The latest addition of Khimki is pretty familiar with some BC Khimki players as some of them have already been his teammates: “Yes, I played with few of them. In my rookie year I was with Tyler in the same team; We also played together with James Anderson. Of course, I’m familiar with Alexey Shved and I love his game. I’ve been a big fan of Alex for years. I’m excited to play with them”.

Robinson feels that he will need some time in order to be ready for the level of competition in EuroLeague: “Of course, this is definitely the highest competition outside the NBA. But right now, I don’t worry about any competition or who we gonna play against. I wanna get comfortable on my guys and win everything that we come out to. The couch told me just to get comfortable. I’ll learn defensive things that are gonna be doing as well as switching which I feel like I can do to a high level. So, I’m gonna do that here”.

The American forward believes that leaving in Russia will not have any effect on him. “I’m a beast, man, I can adjust anywhere. So, it’s good. This is a new experience for me; gonna mature life here as a player and as a person. I think it was time for me to get away mentally from the States just come here for something new”.
