Darussafaka guard Scottie Wilbekin once again expressed his desire to join the Turkish national team as the squad’s naturalized player.

“It’s a pleasure for me that they think of me as a naturalized player. It’s a great honor for me. I would love to play for Turkish NT. I already feel like a part of it (Turkey),” Wilbekin said during “Time Out” show of Turkish Bein Sports. He was actually been handed a Turkish national team jersey as a gift by host Ismail Senol.

Wilbekin’s comments echo what he told Eurohoops’ Bugra Uzar earlier this season regarding the possibility of becoming one of the “12 Giant Men”.  The American guard had also mentioned that he feels “right at home” in Turkey. No wonder, after three years in Istanbul where he’s spending his second season under David Blatt in Darussafaka.

“I have been in Turkey for three years now and I have been living in the same place since the very beginning. I do not use the GPS anymore. On the contrary to my first days in Turkey, I’ve got used to the foods as well.”
