Laboral Kutxa is going to increase its budget around 30% to 40% for the upcoming season and this allows the club to make a €1.6 million, two-year offer to its leader and Liga Endesa MVP Giannis Bourousis.
The budget increase, which was announced by club president, Josean Querejeta, surpasses the financial standards of Laboral Kutxa a lot, as the offer to the Greek center shows. But, there’s some heavy competition with the other teams that have already shown an interest to one of the best players from last season’s Euroleague. And these teams will, most likely, offer Bourousis much more money in order to lure him.
In any case, the possible increase in Bourousis’ income, in comparison to his existing contract, will reach a percentage of… 250%, which is huge.
Bourousis is waiting to see all the offers that will arrive, before making his decision. One basic criterion will be the role that he might have in the game of the team of his choice. Let’s not forget that having a specific role was pivotal in having such a brilliant season with the team from Vitoria.
Querejeta made the above move also because the other big team of the city, football club Alaves, in which he is a basic shareholder, advanced to Primera Division. Managing the funds and income from both teams, will impact Laboral Kutxa. That is the reason why he looks determined to invest much in Baskonia in order to keep it in the path of success.
