Two seasoned veterans in the field of European basketball decided to call it a day after long and successful careers that included playing for some prestigious clubs.

Turkish-Albanian forward Ermal Kuqo announced his retirement from professional basketball with a pretty self explanatory picture, posted in his Twitter profile.

He later wrote that “I would love to finish my 22 years long career in…. one piece (meaning healthy). Now, i am a full time husband and father. Loves and respects to all.”

36-year old Kuqo spent the majority of his career playing in Turkey, where he was crowned league champion in 2004 and 2005 with Anadolu Efes. He also won the Turkish cup in 2006 and 2007.

“I know realize how lucky I was for having this ‘job’ for more than 20 years,” was the message of Giannis Kalampokis in his own announcement. The 38-year old guard has been a part of teams like Olympiacos, AEK and PAOK while also playing for Benetton Treviso and Alba Berlin. He was a bronze medalist with the Greek national team in the Eurobasket 2009.
