Damir Mulaomerovic is no longer the coach of the Bosnia. He filed his resignation after last night’s game against Sweden, a narrow victory for Bosnia that has severely reduced its hopes of making it to the Eurobasket 2017.

The 41-year old coach chose not to include Mirza Teletovic in the squad that played against Sweden, as a punishment for his behavior during and after the notorious incident with Dzanan Musa.

Even though there are still mathematical chances for Bosnia to qualify to the Eurobasket, “Mula” admitted that the team failed in its targets.

The general mood in the Bosnian team hasn’t been really pleasant lately. Apart from the “Teletovic-gate”, Jusuf Nurkic had also made some cryptic statements regarding his future in the national team that is now highly questionable. If things couldn’t get worse, Nedim Buza was horribly injured vs Sweden, breaking his leg. It is as if a curse had struck the team all of a sudden.

“Unfortunately we didn’t achieve our goals in the Eurobasket qualifiers which are now completed for us,” Mulaomerovic said in an official press release. “I have to inform that I resign from the head coach position of the Bosnian national team. It was a great honor and responsibility to be appointed coach of the team and have the federation’s trust in this role. With a sense of pride I thank the team members with whom I have worked over the past months and I wish them the best in their professional and personal lives. I also want to wish a speedy and successful recovery to Nedim Buza and Nemanja Gordic who are injured. I thank the Bosnian Basketball Federation which provided the best training conditions, but also our honest fans. They don’t need to worry about the future of the Bosnian national team because we have a new generation that will hopefully wear the country’s jersey with pride and enthusiasm.”
