The German Basketball League (easyCredit BBL) announced that its licensing committee has decided to immediately withdraw the license of Phoenix Hagen for “good cause” and relegate the team to the ProA league, the country’s second division basketball championship.

Among other things, according to the announcement, the club failed to provide evidence that the upcoming games against Ludwigsburg (December 4, on the road) and Braunschweig (December 10 at home) can be carried out properly. The deadline for submitting the evidence expired on November 30.

The club has the opportunity to appeal against the decision. According to the BBL rules, Phoenix Hagen will no longer be listed in the standings table and the team’s results will no longer be considered valid.
